Overview
On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, staff and members were joined by proponents of Proposition 137 (formerly Int. 308), a statewide ballot measure in the November 2026 general election. The campaign describes it as follows:
“Without raising taxes, the measure would allow Colorado to keep the money it receives from the existing state sales tax on sporting goods and equipment and invest that money in wildfire risk reduction, land and water conservation, outdoor recreation, and access to nature. Today’s webinar will cover the need for more funding, how the ballot measure works and what programs it would fund, and how counties would receive significant new resources if the measure passes.”
Presenters included:
- Doug Vilsack, Bolo Strategies, former Director, Colorado State BLM
- John Whitney, Public Lands Consultant, former Congressional aide to Sen. Bennet
- Tarn Udall, Senior Attorney, Western Resource Advocates
